March 2008 Thought for the month: "The loveliest masterpiece of the heart of God is the heart of a mother." St. Thérèse of Lisieux A suggestion for a prayer:
God of compassion, whose Son Jesus Christ, the child of Mary, shared the life of a home in Nazareth, and on the cross drew the whole human family to himself: strengthen us in our daily living that in joy and in sorrow we may know the power of your presence to bind together and to heal;

Services Although steeped in history and host to a wide variety of cultural events Saint Botolph's Church is first and foremost a place where Christians gather to take part in services, pray and meet together. You are warmly invited to our Sunday morning services at 10.15 a.m. Evening services are held at St Botolph's on the first and second Sundays, at St Peter's on the third Sunday and Castle Methodist Church on the fourth Sunday of each month. Fifth Sundays vary so email for details.
Saint Botolph’s Work Today This Church of England Church is part of the Diocese of Chelmsford and in the Episcopal area of Colchester. We share a relationship with other churches within the town. Examples of shared activities include a Bible Study Group and worship with Castle Methodist Church. St Botolph’s also helps support the Night Shelter and Soup Run for the homeless as well as other social and Christian action in the town and further afield. When you visit this Church you are not visiting a museum but a lively center of worship and music. The Church has a Choral Society and an orchestra that perform at services and concerts throughout the year. Because of the excellent acoustics and comfortable surroundings many other musical groups also use the church. For details on forthcoming events or for details on how to book the Church for events see the Concerts and Events page. In addition to worship and music the church is seeking to put the building into good order and extend its hospitality facilities, as well as seeking God's will for the place in the context of being a town center church and congregation. Please return to this page regularly for some prayers, thoughts and updates on the work of the church in its continuing mission. |
